Results from our 6th Round of Testing

September 27, 2020

Dear Residents and Families,

Re: Results from our 6th Round of Testing

Today we received the results from yesterday’s testing, and it is pleasing to report that all residents have returned negative results. We do not have any further resident cases of COVID-19.  Unfortunately, one staff member from Northerly returned a positive result and they are now self-isolating. We wish them a speedy recovery and hope to see them back at work very soon. It is worth noting that this staff member did not work during their infectious period and therefore they do not have any close contacts at Embracia Moonee Valley. All other staff have returned negative results which is good outcome.

We are saddened to have to share that today one of our residents with COVID-19 has passed away. We send our thoughts and condolences to their family. It is always a sad time when a family member passes, and the current challenges do not make it any easier. Our team and the staff from RMH InReach have been attending this resident for the last 14 days and providing the dedicated support and care they needed. We send our love and strength to the family and friends at this sad time.

Active Cases according to our notifications:

Residents:  13 Residents

  • Resident 1 – Day 13 (resident passed)
  • Resident 2, 3, 4 – Day 14 (one resident passed)
  • Resident 5, 6, 7 – Day 12 (One resident passed)
  • Residents 8, 9, 10, 11 – Day 11
  • Resident 12 – Day 10
  • Resident 13 – Day 7

Staff: 10 Staff

Other Contacts: 1 Contractor (Counted by DHHS)

We now have six households where all residents and staff have tested negative, for the sixth time. Today we have made a formal request to DHHS seeking a timeframe for when we may be able to ease the restrictions in these areas. We have asked Dr Wong for a partial lifting of the lockdown to allow residents to move more freely within the household. We would still be required to follow the visitation restrictions however this compromise would have a profound positive effect on their social, emotional, and physical wellbeing. We await Dr Wong’s response.

Our next round of testing will be Tuesday 29th September and we will keep you informed of the results. Please keep following our Facebook page, Instagram, and our website to keep up to date.

Take care and stay safe.

Kind regards,

Sarah MacKenzie
