Requirements in Aged Care regarding COVID-19

March 18, 2020

Dear Residents, Families and Friends

Today the Prime Minister Scott Morrison has declared a national biosecurity emergency and announced the new interventions to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. He again acknowledged that people living in aged care need to be protected from contracting the virus and Embracia Victoria will continue to follow these directives and now amend our procedures to reflect these new interventions which will be implemented immediately.

We will continue to practice good hygiene and social distancing as this is proving to be effective in reducing the spread of the virus. These concepts underpin the following directives. Embracia Victoria is calling on your co operation and understanding as we strive to protect our residents and staff. We are all trying to play our part in preventing the spread of infection.

  • We ask that you cover your coughs and sneezes with your elbow or tissue
  • Dispose of tissues properly
  • Residents please advise nursing staff if you are unwell

Social Distancing

  • No children to visit the home
  • It’s recommended keeping 1.5 metres between you and other people where possible
  • Minimise physical contact with older people and those with existing health conditions

End of Life

  • Embracia has the discretion to make arrangements for each specific circumstance to ensure we can make sensible arrangements on a compassionate basis.
  • Please speak with management so we can make these arrangements

To help reduce the spread and protect those who are most at risk, it is important that you take the recommended steps to protect yourself and others by abiding by these directives.

We will keep you informed of any changes regarding COVID-19 and how we will manage these developments.
