Today the Prime Minister Scott Morrison has declared a national biosecurity emergency and announced the new interventions to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. He again acknowledged that people living in aged care need to be protected from contracting the virus and Embracia Victoria will continue to follow these directives and now amend our procedures to reflect these new interventions which will be implemented immediately.
We will continue to practice good hygiene and social distancing as this is proving to be effective in reducing the spread of the virus. These concepts underpin the following directives. Embracia Victoria is calling on your co operation and understanding as we strive to protect our residents and staff. We are all trying to play our part in preventing the spread of infection.
These people will not be allowed to enter our home:
Anyone returning from overseas and has not had 14 days quarantine
Anyone who has had contact with person with a confirmed case of COVID-19 and not had 14 days quarantine.
Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms: fever, sore throat, cough, breathlessness
Anyone who is unwell do not visit
Anyone who has not been vaccinated with the flu vaccine by May1 2020 – evidence of vaccination is required before entry is allowed.

Restriction on Visitors
Only visit your loved one
Visits are to be restricted to a short duration – practice social distancing during these visits. Duration is less than 30 mins.
Limit to 2 visitors at one time per day
Only visit in the resident’s room or outdoor area
Do not visit in communal areas – this includes kitchens, lounge and dining rooms, cafes, theatres and the like. Visitors will not be allowed at mealtimes in the communal areas.
No one under the age of 16 years of age is to visit the aged care home
We ask everyone to wash your hands often with soap and water, including before and after eating and after going to the toilet
Use alcohol-based sanitisers – we have installed wall mounted hand sanitizers throughout the home for your use
We ask that you cover your coughs and sneezes with your elbow or tissue
Dispose of tissues properly
Residents please advise nursing staff if you are unwell
No children to visit the home
It’s recommended keeping 1.5 metres between you and other people where possible
Minimise physical contact with older people and those with existing health conditions

Embracia has the discretion to make arrangements for each specific circumstance to ensure we can make sensible arrangements on a compassionate basis.

To help reduce the spread and protect those who are most at risk, it is important that you take the recommended steps to protect yourself and others by abiding by these directives.
