Notification of an Embracia Reservoir staff member who is a close contact of a community member testing positive to COVID-19

June 30, 2020

Dear Residents, Families and Friends,

Re: Notification of an Embracia staff member who is a close contact of a community member testing positive to COVID-19

This afternoon a staff member at Embracia Reservoir notified us that they have been advised by the Department of Health and Human Services that they are as a close contact of a person in the community who has tested positive to COVID-19. ‘Close contact’ means that a person has had face-to-face contact for more than 15 minutes with someone who has a confirmed case of coronavirus (COVID-19) – or alternatively they have shared a closed space with them for more than two hours. This staff member has since been tested and we are awaiting their results. They are in isolation for the next 14 days and will undergo further testing before returning to work.

We have contacted the Victorian Communicable Disease Prevention and Control Unit and they have advised us that at this stage the staff member is considered a close contact who is negative to COVID-19. Therefore, they do not require testing of residents. However, if subsequent testing returns positive results, we will act accordingly. This directive is based on the fact that residents are at a further distance away from the initial person diagnosed with COVID-19. We will act once we are provided any new information.

As a precautionary measure we are limiting movement around the home and encouraging residents to remain in their household. It is imperative that all visitors adhere to the visitation directives and especially do not gather within or outside the home. Please make your way directly to your loved one’s room and when leaving, go directly to the exit. We will have signage and markings on the floor nominating the hallways to be used.

These are changing times and we want to remain sensible and vigilant, so we again ask for your consideration and compliance. We will keep you informed of the progress and remind everyone to keep safe and practice good hygiene and social distancing.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Kind regards,

Sarah MacKenzie
