RE: Embracia Reservoir – Three resident confirmed cases of COVID-19
We are writing to inform you that today at Embracia Reservoir, three residents in our Love Household, have tested positive to COVID-19.
Effective immediately, Embracia Reservoir is in lockdown. This means, at this stage, that no visitors are allowed into the home for a period of two weeks. We encourage you to utilise alternative forms of communication during this lockdown time so you may remain in contact with your loved ones. This includes window visits and digital communication.
The residents who have tested positive, have all been double vaccinated against COVID-19 since May 2021 and we are currently managing their mild symptoms. The residents were tested on the 28th and 29th September because they showed respiratory symptoms and Melbourne Pathology notified us this morning that the results were positive to COVID-19. Currently they are isolating in their rooms, their families have been notified, they have been attended by their GP and our nursing staff are caring for them.
We have activated our Outbreak Management Plan and notified the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services. We are repeat testing all staff and residents as a precaution. Residents will remain in their own households and staff are cohorted to that household so there is not any staff crossover. We have begun tracing all close contacts and some staff are now required to isolate at home as they wait for their results. We have 100% staff first dose vaccinated, and 97% are double vaccinated.
We do have sufficient supply of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and that all staff are trained in its use. We will be required to utilise PPE during lockdown, implement enhanced cleaning protocols, cohort staff, and our management team will monitor these processes closely.
We will keep you informed of the progress of our testing and any other interventions that may arise. We are sending this advice as part of our proactive and open communication with you, and as part of our open disclosure policy.
