Embracia Reservoir – More confirmed cases of COVID-19

October 2, 2021

Dear Residents and Families

Today we received the results from yesterday’s testing and our new cases are listed below.

New resident cases                               8

New Staff cases                                     2

Total New Cases                            10

Previous reported resident total             4

Previous reported staff total                   2

Total Cases                                           16

We can report a further 8 residents have tested positive to COVID-19, 7 of those residents are in our memory support area known as Love Household and one new case is in the Joy Household. All residents that have tested positive are in a stable condition, all are fully vaccinated and being well managed by our staff in the home.

We had a further two staff test positive, one works in our Love household and the other holds a role across the home, both are double vaccinated.  At this stage both staff are asymptomatic and isolating at home.  We send them our well wishes and we look forward to welcoming them back to work once they are cleared.

We had another round of testing today for all residents and staff.  It was originally meant for Sunday, but Sonic testing were able to provide testing today.  We will report on those results tomorrow.  We have been told we will have more testing again on Monday and every 48 hours at this stage.  All residents in the home are isolated to their rooms and all staff are working in full PPE until we have a few further rounds of testing.  At this stage there have been no case in Harmony, Peace or Happiness Households and we are doing everything to keep it this way.

We continue to work with all levels of government and health teams daily and attend formal government meetings each day.  The Public Health Team have stated that they are not surprised by the spread of the virus due to the airborne nature of this variant, however, they have commended us on our vaccination rates as this aids the impact of the virus.  We have air scrubbers (air filtering machines) being utilised throughout the home as well as staff now having breaks outdoors to reduce the risk of spread as it is safer outdoors that inside.

The home remains in lockdown until further notice.  Currently all residents are remaining in their rooms, so we encourage you to make contact via phone or other means to keep in touch. If you would like assistance for window visits or digital communication, please contact our Lifestyle team on lifestylec@embraciavic.com.au.

We thank you again for your support, love, and prayers as we work together as an Embracia community to stay informed and connected and work to protect our residents and staff.

Stay safe.

Kind regards
