We are writing to inform you that today a staff member at Embracia Reservoir has tested positive to COVID-19 and effective immediately we have been instructed by the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services to lockdown Embracia Reservoir. This means that no visitors are allowed into the home for a period of two weeks. We encourage you to utilise alternative forms of communication during this lockdown time so you may remain in contact with your loved ones.
We have not had any other residents or staff show any other signs or symptoms of COVID-19. As a precaution, we have activated our emergency response plan and notified the State Government Department of Health and Human Services and the COVID-19 response team will attend the home tomorrow to support our staff. Also, we will test all staff and residents utilising the testing services provided by the Victorian Government. We have begun tracing all close contacts so everyone is informed of the current situation.
The Commonwealth Department of Health and the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services are working closely with us to ensure the ongoing health and safety of our residents and staff. We want to reassure you that we have sufficient supply of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and that are staff are trained in its use. We will be required to utilise PPE in some instances and our management team, supported by the Response Team, will monitor the processes closely.
The staff member is now in isolation in their home and managing their symptoms. They last worked at the home on Wednesday 27th May 2020 and prior to that worked only three other shifts in the previous two weeks. We thank the staff member for attending their GP as soon as they developed signs and symptoms as well as staying away from the workplace. Once they returned a positive test, they informed us immediately enabling us to take prompt action.
Our priority is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all residents and staff, and we will monitor for signs and symptoms so we may act promptly. We will notify all General Practitioners who work in our home and all other relevant suppliers to ensure they remain informed. We will continue to practice enhanced infection control and enhanced cleaning protocols.
Our staff have been briefed and informed of the infection control protocols and are committed to providing ongoing care and support of our residents.
We want to assure you that there is not an outbreak nor an COVID-19 cluster at Embracia Reservoir. We will keep you informed of the progress of our testing and any other interventions that may arise. We are sending this advice as part of our proactive and open communication with you, and as part of our open disclosure policy.
If you have any concerns related to the lockdown, please contact management (Catrina or Ariella), so we may address your enquiry, ph. 9469 5555.
We will continue to provide you information as it becomes available. Thank you for your support during this challenging time.
We provide exceptional aged care in an intimate community that feels like home.
