Dear Residents and Families
RE: Embracia Reservoir – 3 confirmed new cases of COVID-19
Today we received the results of the testing of the residents in the Love household and staff. We have three new cases from yesterday.
New resident cases 1
New Staff cases 2
Total New Cases 3
Previous reported resident total 3
Previous reported staff total 0
Total Cases 6
The resident also lives in the Love household, and they are showing mild symptoms. Their family have been notified and they have been reviewed by the doctor from the Public Health Unit who was onsite today. At this stage all four residents are managing well. All the residents in the other households were tested today and we expect their results tomorrow. Today was the earliest that the government contracted Sonic testers could attend the home.
The two staff members are vaccinated and worked in the Love household from the 28th and 30th September which is deemed to be their infectious period. One of these staff worked one day in the Joy household on the 28th. Prior to testing, both staff were asymptomatic. They now are isolating at home, and we wish them well during their isolation and hope their families remain COVID free too. We have not heard from any other primary close contacts such as visitors, so we still are unable to confidently identify the apex case, the original source of the transmission.
Late last night, we held our Initial Outbreak Management Team meeting which was attended by state and federal government Public Health Units and other Department representatives, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, and Northern Health InReach services.
It is the decision of the North Eastern Public Health Unit (NEPHU) that all visitors to the Love and Joy households, from the 26th September 2021, are to be considered primary close contacts from a Tier 1 site.
This means that if you visited the Love or Joy households between 26th and 30th September, you must get tested and isolate for 14 days. All other visitors to the home during the same days are considered Tier 2 close contacts and are asked to get tested and remain home until you receive a negative result. The NEPHU have asked that this communication be considered formal notice from Department of Health and Human Services.
The home remains in lockdown as we wait for today’s test results from all other residents. Currently all residents are remaining in their rooms, so we encourage you to make contact via phone or other means to keep in touch. If you would like assistance for window visits or digital communication, please contact our Lifestyle team on email@example.com.
We would like to acknowledge the hard work of our team at Embracia Reservoir who are working under challenging conditions. The InReach team who worked at the home today, publicly praised the work of the team during our Outbreak Meeting this afternoon. Praise well deserved!
We will communicate over the weekend once we have further results from residents and staff. We will have another round of testing on Sunday for all residents and staff.
We provide exceptional aged care in an intimate community that feels like home.
