Embracia Moonee Valley – Updates on staff testing and another round of testing

August 9, 2020

Dear Residents, Families and Friends,

Re: Embracia Moonee Valley – Updates on staff testing and another round of testing.

Today is a brief update on the last round of staff testing.  All results came back negative for our staff.  There was one agency Registered Nurse who has tested positive.  They didn’t work with any of our residents with COVID-19, so although we know DHHS will count them against Embracia Moonee Valley, we are confident they are more likely to be a victim of community transmission or from an alternative workplace.  Cam and Joy have worked directly with the Public Health Unit to conduct our own contact tracing. The RN is an agency RN.  They were asymptomatic and in full PPE when working their two shifts with us last week. As an RN, they have less direct close contact with residents like a personal carer does, nonetheless, we wish to be open with you and share they worked in Young Idea and Chatham.  Residents are being monitored and still isolated in their own rooms and today another round of testing took place for residents and we hope to have these results tomorrow.

We understand that this is concerning, however, this is the very reason why we are in stage 4 lockdown. The community transmission is too high and once more this appears to be an example of our frontline workers and the enormous risks they face, and how they can become the victims.  We wish this agency staff member a speedy recovery.  Our next staff testing is tomorrow and as mentioned above, residents were tested today and we will have more to share on that tomorrow.

Today’s Summary:

  • 4 active cases in our home.
  • 4 residents have now recovered (including the resident with mixed results)

  • 2 active cases who are all stable or asymptomatic
  • 6 recovered and given DHHS clearance.

Contact Cases:

  • 6 active cases. We do not have confidence of the accuracy of this number as DHHS has stopped reporting these cases to us.

Don’t forget to email lifestylemv@embraciavic.com.au to arrange a phone call, zoom call or a window visit.  All window visits MUST be pre-booked via the email above, as we need to coordinate all visits.  Also, if you post or drop off gifts, they need to be brought through the front door and NOT passed through any gates, fences or into courtyard bedrooms.  We are must ensure social distancing to so help us to keep your loved ones safe. Please work with us, follow the rules and help to stop the transmission and let’s eliminate this virus.  We will ensure your food and gifts are personally delivered to your loved one.

Stay safe and take care of each other.
