Re: Embracia Moonee Valley Positive Test Results to COVID-19
Yesterday we reported that 126 residents and 120 staff had returned negative results to COVID-19. But very late last night we received the unfortunate news that five residents and another staff member had tested positive to COVID-19. All these residents are from the Winx household and two are not showing any symptoms, but the three other residents are showing mild symptoms. We have been in communication with the residents’ GPs and together we are in consultation with the residents and their families.
The staff member who has been diagnosed works in both the Winx household and Kingston Town. The tests for residents in Kingston Town have all returned negative results and we currently do not have any positive cases in Kingston Town, however, we are also isolating these residents. This is a precautionary measure as we wait for the next round of testing which is due on Thursday. All staff in these two households will now be using full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and will be only working in their allocated household. This staff member last worked in Winx on Saturday 11th July and did not have any symptoms. The staff developed symptoms later in the weekend and did not return to work and is currently in isolation. Again, we thank this staff member for getting tested, and for staying away from our home as soon as they developed symptoms.
We have conducted another deep clean and sanitisation throughout the entire home overnight and we will continue to clean and sanitise regularly every day and we have increased our staffing already to ensure even more cleaning continues 24/7 over this lockdown. All staff will continue to wear masks, practice good hand hygiene, and maintain all infection control protocols.
Although we have received all residents results now, we are still waiting on 14 staff results. We will share any further information with you as we progress.
It is important to remain in contact with family and we remind you to utilise our Lifestyle team to assist with teleconferencing or phone calls. Families of those residents specifically in Winx or Kingston Town are strongly encouraged to email our lifestyle team as we want to work closely with you and assist you and your loved one to remain in contact and feel supported through this challenging time. Lifestyle team are the key people managing direct communication with residents, so please email them at email@example.com to book a time to communicate with your loved one.
Our team are working around the clock to do all that is possible to shut this down and stop the spread. These are very serious times and we need your support and cooperation more than ever. We will keep you informed and updated and more than ever, we are all in this together. As you can imagine this is a busy and stressful time for us all and we want to keep you informed. Please do not panic and call the home, as this is not helpful to the staff and management who are incredibly busy putting additional training into staff and also liaising with multiple government agencies to ensure we stop the spread.
