Re: Embracia Moonee Valley – General update

We just wanted to write and formally consolidate the information we have received this week from round 7 of testing for both residents and staff.  Our residents were tested (all besides our known positive cases) and all these results were NEGATIVE.  Our staff all tested NEGATIVE too.  Today our residents had round 8 of testing and tomorrow our staff will have their round 8 of testing.

We have continued to try and get guidance and clarity from DHHS around when we can move from lockdown to active surveillance. We also want direction on when our residents can be formally cleared of COVID-19 as some residents were diagnosed positive to COVID-19 more than a month ago.  Today we received these responses from DHHS:

1. What are the criteria to move from lockdown to active surveillance? (allow residents to move freely in the home)

Lockdown can occur 14 days post last infectious exposure at the facility i.e. 14 days since anyone at the facility could potentially have been exposed to an infectious COVID-19 positive individual.

2. If you are not providing resident clearance, how do we know when we will move out of lockdown?

Resident clearance is an entirely separate entity to coming out of lockdown. We will advise you when you can come out of lockdown.

Regarding Positive residents being cleared of COVID-19 formally by DHHS, as our staff have been. 

  • DHHS officers are the only ones who can provide formal clearance.
  • DHHS do not provide clearance for residents in aged care and they do not want them retested, but just clinically managed by their GP.
  • All residents who have tested positive in aged care continue to be counted in the statewide active case count even if they have recovered as DHHS do not provide clearance.

Today’s Summary:

Residents:     

  • 2 active cases in our home.
  • 6 residents have now returned negative results – DHHS cannot advise whether cleared.

Staff:    

  • 2 active cases who are all stable or asymptomatic
  • 6 recovered and given DHHS clearance.

Contact Cases: 

  • No longer relevant as we cannot verify these cases.

Don’t forget to email lifestylemv@embraciavic.com.au to arrange a phone call, zoom call or a window visit.  All window visits MUST be pre-booked via the email above, as we need to coordinate all visits.  Also, if you post or drop off gifts, they need to be brought through the front door and NOT passed through any gates, fences or into courtyard bedrooms.
