Embracia Moonee Valley– COVID Safe Summer- changes in conditions for visiting

December 8, 2020

Dear Residents and Families,

Re: Embracia Moonee Valley– COVID Safe Summer- changes in conditions for visiting

We would like to update you on the easing of restrictions for visitors to aged care homes as Victoria moves towards “COVIDSafe Summer” restrictions.

Visitors

The usual screening, temperature checks and signing in/out remains in place. Everyone must practice good hand hygiene and use hand sanitiser.

The new conditions:

  • There are no limits on the purpose of visits, the number of visitors or the length of the visit.
  • Visits to people living in aged care are no longer limited by Chief Health Officer directions.
  • People of any age can visit.
  • Do not visit if you are feeling unwell. Stay home and get tested.
  • You must wear a face mask when visiting.
  • We must comply with the two square metre rule that limits the number of people that can be in a shared communal space at the same time. Occupancy limits are posted at the doorway of communal spaces. Density limits do not apply in bedrooms of aged care facilities.
  • We have modified the visiting hours:

Monday to Friday

  • 10.00am – 12.00pm
  • 2.00pm – 5.00 pm
  • 6.00pm -8.00pm

Weekends

  • 10.00am – 12.00pm
  • 1.00pm – 4.00pm

Outings

Residents may take outings as long the current Victorian Government restrictions are observed such as social distancing, wearing masks and within the restrictions on gatherings. We also ask that you continue to provide us with information on where residents are going, who will be with them and their contact information.  This will assist us in any contact tracing if it is ever required.

It is wonderful to welcome a “sense of normality” after so long and we thank you all for your understanding. There may be delays in entering the home as staff need to screen each person, so we ask that you be patient if there are delays.

We can enjoy these changes, but remain vigilant, as we take this exciting new step.

Kind regards,

Sarah MacKenzie
