We are writing to inform you that late this afternoon that a staff member at Embracia Moonee Valley has tested positive to COVID-19 and effective immediately we are restricting visitors to Embracia Moonee Valley. This means that no visitors are allowed into the home. We will advise you of the progress once we are advised by the authorities. We encourage you to utilise alternative forms of communication during this restriction so you may remain in contact with your loved ones.
We have not had any other residents or staff show any other signs or symptoms of COVID-19. As a precaution, we have activated our emergency response plan. We have advised the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) regarding this new case and we will continue to work closely with them as we commence contact tracing and testing over the coming days.
We want to reassure you that we have sufficient supply of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and that are staff are trained in its use. We will be required to utilise PPE in some instances and our management team will monitor the processes closely.
The staff member is now in isolation in their home and managing their symptoms. They last worked at the home on Sunday 5th July 2020. We thank the staff member for attending their GP as soon as they developed signs and symptoms as well as staying away from the workplace. Once they returned a positive test, they informed us immediately enabling us to take prompt action.
Our priority is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all residents and staff, and we will monitor for signs and symptoms so we may act promptly. We will notify all General Practitioners who work in our home and all other relevant suppliers to ensure they remain informed. We will continue to practice enhanced infection control and enhanced cleaning protocols.
We will keep you informed of the progress of our testing and any other interventions that may arise. We are sending this advice as part of our proactive and open communication with you, and as part of our open disclosure policy.
